Life Is Beautiful........................................................

Few months back, I woke up with the shocking news of Jhia Khan suicidal demise. That shocked me to the core. All the media dogs and papers were full of crapy reports. Rumors were due to failed love relationship, the young actress took the extreme step.

I was still reeling on the entire raison d'ĂȘtre of jiah khan when another news broke away. One of my seniors wife from college committed suicide along with her two small children. It’s more difficult to digest when you know the victim personally. Unfortunately this time it was dowry demand.

Another grave incident still invigorates in my mind, though I never want this special person to read this post as it might hurt his feelings which is never my intention at any cost. An intelligent boy of 17 tried to commit suicide because he failed to get into any medical institute. Sadly this time the cause behind the horrendous act was pressure and depression to excel in studies.

Am no psychologist and cant judge a persons state of mind but I am unable to figure out that how these situations can lead a person to take his/her life. Is this the only short-cut to end your life tribulations? Is this the only option to cope with pain? We all are dealing with our troubles. Everybody has their share of bumps in life. Joy and sorrow, its part of our lives. Its god’s way of balancing the act.

If ever you lose control of your emotions, think about your loved ones, your family; reach out to them open up to them. They are your pillars of strength. Don’t lose hope. Visit hospital, trauma centers, see for yourself how people are fighting with dear life, hoping to win death. How no amount of money can bring them normal existence. There is a reason why god has chosen us to be human being. Think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, and to chase the things you love.

Family and friends plays a major role. Be compassionate and kind. Check for warning signs of depression and the cause behind it. Listen to them heart to heart; don’t try to reason their mind-set. Tell how much you love them and they means to you. Yesterday I read a very beautiful piece by Rachna how a young child lost a life’s battle in order to fulfill his parent’s dreams .Don’t force your kids to compete in rat race. Let them free, allow them to discover their own paths.

Life is beautiful. If winter ends can spring be far behind. The journey might be little shaky but its temporary. This is your life, fight for it. Fight for what you believe in. Fight for what’s important to you. Help others to fight off the suicide evil and make your life worthy and beautiful once gain.

“Take a deep breath, Pick yourself up, Dust yourself off, and start all over again”

  1. If winter ends can spring be far behind.... this is something most of us don't realize. When something comes up with life, we find it too much to cope up with.

"When life gives you lemons, add tequila and salt"...I always loved this quote... and think something we should do in real too.!!

    Well written! :)

  3. You write with a profound intensity. It's unfortunate that you had witnessed such incidents in your close vicinity. Most of the time it is the fear of being rejected or disappointing our loved ones that makes a person take such a disastrous step. But even then, suicide is certainly not justified. I am glad there are blogs and bloggers like you who address this problem and even give tips for the needy. Wonderfully written :)

  4. I agree with you, committing suicide is that step which requires much much strength and will power which comes when a person's ego gets hurt so deep that he feels no body around to accept him and take him out of this situation.

What a child will do when his closest persons ( parents) are responsible for destroying his self ego and his confidence. That child will feel like he has no right to live. I know that's a sad part but being a child he needs someone to jolt him and take him out of that stress.

  5. Beautifully written, Anu. As you rightly pointed out, there is a lack of communication and often pre-conceived judgement. Also, some parents put too much pressure and for what! You made very strong points on the need to enjoy life:)

  8. Loved the quote at the end. It's so sad, that society, families, parents place so many burdens on young shoulders. We should back away and start living the simple life.

  9. I feel, people get so consumed and overwhelmed by their emotions that for them suicide feels like the only alternative. Many times the person who is depressed is not in the frame of mind to reach out. Perhaps we should be a little more conscious about people around us.

  13. Anu, I just read this post now. It dismays me on many levels when I hear of a person taking his/her life. Imagine the plight and utter grief that leads a person to this! Thank you for the mention! I hate that so many people take their kids for granted using them as an outlet for their own desire fulfillment crushing their lives in the bargain.

    1. The worst part is we know we are pushing our kids to their limits but don't do anything to stop ourselfs then why the regret...

  14. Often the person, whether a child or a wife, is put under so much pressure and has no external support, so they feel as if the only outlet is to end it all. It's very sad, and as Rachna points out, very unfair!

  15. I don't know whom to blame for the pressure..parents society circumstances ourselfs..list is endless.we still have to go long way to come up with permanent solutions.
